National Ovarian Cancer Coalition

On September 14, 2008, over 2,000 participants and 0ver 130 survivors came to North Park to walk in memory of family and friends who pass away from this silent killer. KPR & Events pitched story ideas to broadcast and print TV throughout August and September. The primary goal was to raise awareness and educate the public about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. The secondary goal was to draw participants and sponsors to the Walk itself.

Results: Interviews aired on Pittsburgh Today Live  (2 times), KDKA-TV, WPXI-TV, KDKA-AM, and KQV-AM. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette featured an in-depth research story on September 24, 2008. Both the Summer and Fall issues of A Guide to Good Health ran special articles on living with ovarian cancer and new research studies in Pittsburgh.
